Choose the right cooking station

Food in RuneScape: Dragonwilds provides sustenance and can restore health or grant temporary perks, making a stocked food supply useful before exploring Ashenfall. Start with ingredients you can replace easily, then work toward meals that combine several ingredients. Your cooking station, available fuel, and Cooking level all affect what you can prepare.

THGL's cooking database, updated October 19, 2026, lists 147 cooking recipes across the Campfire or Grill, Cooking Range, and Kiln. Some Cooking Range recipes also work at the Stone Range.

Recipe versions matter. Game8's April 2025 cooking guide assigns many combined meals to a Cooking Pot. THGL's October 2026 catalog instead lists the station groups above. The dated recipe tables below preserve Game8's recorded ingredients and quantities as early-access references. Check the recipe displayed in your game before gathering a large batch or building a station specifically for an older recipe.

Campfire food recipes and fuel

Simple Campfire foods provide a useful starting point because their recorded recipes each use one ingredient type. Game8 lists the following foods as providing low sustenance, with two units of the named raw ingredient required.

FoodRecorded ingredients, April 2025Recorded station
Baked Potato2 PotatoCampfire
Dried Redberries2 RedberriesCampfire
Dried Dwellberries2 DwellberryCampfire
Fillet2 Raw Bird MeatCampfire
Flank Steak2 Raw Bestial MeatCampfire
Fried Cabbage2 CabbageCampfire
Haunch2 Raw Game MeatCampfire

Choose foods based on ingredients you can keep supplying. Save some ingredients for combined meals when you have the appropriate station and recipe.

Dried berries also have a later use: the Fruit Pie preparation route described below combines them with Bread. That gives berry gathering a purpose beyond making individual portions of basic food.

The Dragonwilds Wiki's Cooking page records different burn durations for Campfire fuels. These examples show how long each fuel source lasts:

FuelCooking fuel duration
Ash Logs1 minute
Oak Logs1 minute, 30 seconds
Charcoal2 minutes
Willow Logs2 minutes, 30 seconds
Fuel Pellet6 minutes

A Fuel Pellet burns six times as long as Ash Logs. Choose fuel you can replace comfortably; burn duration does not establish its cost or how quickly an individual meal cooks.

Combined meals and Cooking Range recipes

Game8's early-access list describes several two-ingredient dishes as providing moderate sustenance, while Kebab and Meat Pizza provide satiating sustenance. These categories do not specify exact healing values or perks.

The following selection shows useful ingredient combinations from that April 2025 list. Station names and quantities are historical references, particularly for entries assigned to the Cooking Pot.

For planning purposes, look for recipes that share ingredients with food you already make:

  • Berry supplies: Redberries and Dwellberries appear together in Berry Compote and, after drying, in the Fruit Pie route.
  • Vegetable supplies: Cabbage appears in both Fortifying Soup and Meat Stew in Game8's list.
  • Meat supplies: The recorded recipes distinguish Raw Bird Meat, Raw Rat Meat, Raw Bestial Meat, and Raw Farm Meat. Follow the named ingredient instead of assuming every meat type is interchangeable.

Check your current recipe before processing its ingredients. The older combinations above specify raw ingredients, whereas the Fruit Pie method uses prepared foods. Cooking everything in advance may leave you without the ingredient form a particular recipe requests.

Fruit Pie recipe and a repeatable farming loop

Fruit Pie offers a food-production route based on dried redberries, dried dwellberries, and Bread, combined at a Cooking Range. A YouTube Fruit Pie farming guide reports that the finished pie restores 90 health and provides 85 sustenance, without an additional perk.

The appeal is the repeatable ingredient supply. Wheat and berries can be grown, then processed into the components used by the pie. Check the Cooking Range entry for the quantities required in your version before deciding how many crops to plant.

The farming guide describes this preparation sequence:

  1. Collect seeds. Obtain Wheat Seeds from Goblin Packs dropped by goblins, and gather berry seeds while picking Redberry and Dwellberry bushes. Bramblemead Valley is identified as a useful starting area for goblins and Redberries.

  2. Plant suitable plots. The guide recommends Ash farming plots for Wheat and Redberries, and Oak farming plots for Dwellberries, matching the crops to their native regions.

  3. Maintain the crops. Keep the plots watered and fertilized. Rain can water exposed plots, while fertilizer reduces the chance of crop disease.

  4. Harvest and process. Dry both berry types on Grills. Use a Grindstone to turn Wheat into flour, then process the flour into Bread at a Kiln.

  5. Make the pies. Bring the dried berries and Bread to a Cooking Range and select Fruit Pie.

Surviving berry plants continue producing after harvest in the method demonstrated by the guide. Wheat needs replanting, so maintain a seed reserve to keep the cycle going.

Fruit Pie is a practical option for a repeatable supply of health and sustenance. Before a difficult fight, compare its reported lack of an additional perk with the effects of other meals.

Cooking levels and recipe unlocks

According to the Dragonwilds Wiki, preparing meals advances the Cooking skill. Ingredient power levels determine the Cooking level needed to prepare them on a Campfire or Grill, along with the level needed to stop burning them.

Check both whether you can cook an ingredient and whether you can avoid burning it. The Culinary Confidence perks and Cooking level-up table explain the relevant progression.

Recipe discovery is another part of expanding your options. The wiki's Consumable Recipes page describes blueprint items that can unlock food alongside buildings, weapons, and armor.

These blueprints occur around Ashenfall and in Dragonkin vaults. Most are found in chests, while some are rare monster drops. This does not establish that every meal requires a separate blueprint.

Ingredients can also appear in chests across Ashenfall or inside vaults. Check your exploration loot before making another gathering trip.

FAQ

Which runescape dragonwilds food recipes should I start with?

Start with simple foods that match your available ingredients. Game8's early-access list includes Baked Potato, Dried Redberries, Dried Dwellberries, Fillet, and Fried Cabbage as Campfire options. Check current quantities in-game, then favor ingredients you can replenish consistently.

Where do you make Bread and Fruit Pie?

THGL lists Bread as a Kiln recipe. The Fruit Pie farming video describes processing Wheat into flour at a Grindstone, making Bread at a Kiln, and combining it with dried redberries and dried dwellberries at a Cooking Range.

Why does food burn even when I can cook it?

Being able to cook an ingredient does not mean you have reached its no-burn requirement. The Dragonwilds Wiki ties both requirements to ingredient power level and Cooking progression. Check the relevant Cooking unlocks and Culinary Confidence perks.

Why do older recipes mention a Cooking Pot?

Game8's April 2025 list uses Cooking Pot for many combined meals, while THGL's October 2026 catalog lists a different station grouping. Use the station shown by your current in-game recipe when following an older ingredient combination.
