How to get a Tier 8 Ascension Core

Kuldra is an alternative acquisition route. MetaForge lists a 10% chance for the boss to drop a finished Tier 8 core. That makes the drop a possible shortcut, but it does not guarantee a core after a particular number of victories. MetaForge drop listing
Where to collect shards and crafting materials
Black dragons in the Scorned Wilderness raid are the relevant enemies for Tier 8 shards. A YouTube weapon-upgrade guide reports drops of 8–12 shards per black dragon. At that reported rate, collecting 99 shards from zero takes approximately 9–13 kills, depending on each drop.
The Tier 8 equipment walkthrough identifies three black dragons across the raid and explains that their hides also support Tier 8 crafting. Collecting shards and hides during the same trips helps cover two parts of the core recipe.
Use each raid visit to gather the other materials as well:
- Bring an Adamant Pickaxe. The equipment walkthrough identifies it as sufficient for mining both Runite Ore and Luminite.
- Mine the starting island. The walkthrough shows both ores there and describes that initial island as free of enemies.
- Loot chests and defeated enemies. Both provide Discordant Residue, which feeds into the Vis Cloth production chain.
- Keep Black Dragon Hide for processing. The final core recipe requires finished leather.
If you are making every component from raw resources, TH.GL calculates a total requirement of 90 Rune Essence, 80 Discordant Residue, 40 Dragon Tooth, 10 Dragon Blood, and 10 Black Dragon Hide, alongside the 30 Runite Ore, 30 Luminite, and 99 shards. How to upgrade your equipment

Follow this sequence at the Mystic Forge:
- Craft the Tier 8 core, or bring one obtained from Kuldra.
- Open the Upgrade tab.
- Select the eligible Power Level 7 item.
- Use the matching core to complete its ascension.

Is the Tier 8 core restricted to Nightmare Crucible rewards?

Can lower-tier shards replace Tier 8 shards?
