Why Agility Matters

Agility makes exploring Ashenfall faster, safer, and more flexible. It reduces sprinting stamina consumption, unlocks movement abilities, and opens routes that can save travel time.

This support skill is especially useful because its benefits apply across normal exploration, combat movement, obstacle courses, and shortcuts. Agility was introduced in the 0.12.1 update on July 29, 2026.

Unlike gathering or combat skills, Agility improves largely through movement. Players gain experience while traveling on foot, while courses offer a more focused way to train and earn rewards.

How to Train Agility

Running on foot across Ashenfall grants passive Agility XP. Mounted travel does not grant this experience, so players who want passive progress need to travel without a mount.

Agility courses are the main repeatable training activity. Each course begins at a station with a flag and leaderboard, then follows a fixed route of orbs. Collect the required agility orbs in order to finish the lap.

Missing a required orb sends the player back to the last active orb. Yellow Stamina Orbs are optional, but refill stamina during a course.

Courses provide first-time clear rewards and reduced XP on repeated clears. Players can retry or abandon a course by pressing Escape, walking away, or dying during the course.

Course monsters do not attack players, allowing them to focus on movement. Players also cannot build objects to create an advantage, although spells and strategic jumps can be used.

Agility Course Locations

There are six Agility courses across Ashenfall. Their level requirements increase as players progress through the world and gain additional movement abilities.

Chasm Dash is the entry-level course and does not require movement abilities. Fractured Ruins and Thunder Assault require Windstep and Double Jump.

Tower Climb requires Windstep, Double Jump, and Air Dash. Lava Fields requires Double Jump and Air Dash.

Each course has bronze, silver, and gold target times. Gold results provide the highest listed XP rewards and can grant regional cape rewards, reward packs, and warped feathers on first runs.

Unlocks and Exploration Benefits

Agility unlocks active movement tools, passive effects, and traversal options. Sprinting stamina drain is reduced passively as Agility increases.

The skill also improves movement beyond ordinary running. Windstep helps players jump higher and descend more slowly, while Double Jump and Air Dash make aerial traversal more capable.

Higher Agility also makes Kebbit Burrows more useful. These tunnels are scattered around the map and can be excavated to open shortcuts through side routes.

At low Agility levels, failing to navigate a Kebbit Burrow safely can deal damage. Players with low health should be careful when using them. Higher-level fall-breaking effects can reduce damage from high drops, but fatal falls still cause death.

Recall is another Agility skill spell. It leaves a runic marker on the ground, then can be recast to return to that location. At level 70, a fatal fall while tethered causes the player to teleport back safely, consuming the tether.

Rewards, XP, and Useful Boosts

Course rewards depend on the course, completion time, and whether the run is a first clear or repeat clear. First clears offer more XP than repeated laps at the same medal threshold.

For example, Chasm Dash grants 200 XP for a first-run gold time, but 50 XP for a repeated gold run. Fractured Ruins grants 475 XP for a first-run gold time and 100 XP for a repeated gold run.

Some first-run gold rewards include a regional golden cape, a regional gold reward pack, and six warped feathers. Thunder Assault also lists an Agility Flag, while Grave Run lists an Agility orb.

The following boosts are listed for Agility experience:

  • Gyrhawk amulet provides an additional 100% Agility XP while exploring the world and consumes warped feathers.
  • Gilded gyrhawk amulet provides an additional 25% Agility XP from courses, along with the base amulet’s effects.
  • Inspiring ring of Agility provides an additional 5% Agility XP gain.
  • Knowledgable Nourishment provides an additional 10% experience gain.
  • Focused Agility provides a 15% XP boost.
  • Focused Agility II provides a 30% XP boost.

The gilded gyrhawk amulet recipe unlocks only after gold record times on all courses and is therefore locked behind at least level 65 Agility.
