To get better equipment in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, expand beyond the Crafting Table by building specialist benches and discovering new materials. Keep the starter table for basic crafting and repairs. Your next step is to produce Bronze Bars and Coarse Thread, then build the bench that makes the equipment you need.

Choose the bench for your next upgrade

Equipment progression branches into four specialist stations. Choose one based on the item you want to make:

  • Blacksmith’s Bench: Build this for gathering tools, melee weapons, shields, and components such as crossbow limbs. Tool upgrades make it useful regardless of your combat style.
  • Fletching Bench: Choose this for bows, crossbows, arrows, and bolts.
  • Armour Bench: Use this for head, body, and leg armor across all combat styles, plus cape-slot equipment.
  • Mystic Forge: Build this for magic weapons, certain advanced capes, and Ascension Cores used in later weapon progression.

These roles follow the developer’s Umbral crafting overhaul, which redistributed equipment recipes among dedicated stations. Instructions that send you to a Smithing Anvil describe an older progression system.

Each of these four specialist stations has the same construction cost:

MaterialAmount for one benchPreparation
Bronze Bars6Smelt Copper Ore and Tin Ore together in a Furnace.
Ash Logs20Reserve these for construction alongside wood needed for processing.
Coarse Thread8Process Flax at a Spinning Wheel.
Vault Core1Keep this separate from the Vault Shards needed for a Furnace.

The costs agree between Mobalytics’ crafting-stations guide and Fextralife’s station reference. They apply to each individual bench. Build the station that serves your next upgrade before spending materials on the others.

Prepare thread, charcoal, and bronze

Your first equipment bench depends on processing stations. Set up the following facilities to produce its thread and metal requirements:

Supporting stationConstruction materialsRole in progression
Spinning Wheel12 Ash Logs, 4 Flax, 2 StoneProduces Coarse Thread from Flax.
Kiln8 Ash Logs, 20 Stone, 6 Clay, 10 Fire RunesTurns wood into Charcoal.
Furnace24 Stone, 8 Clay, 4 Charcoal, 10 Fire Runes, 8 Vault ShardsProduces Bronze Bars from Copper Ore and Tin Ore.

Mobalytics’ crafting-stations guide describes the following preparation route:

  1. Make Coarse Thread. Gather additional Flax beyond the four used to construct the Spinning Wheel.

  2. Prepare your mining equipment. A Bone Pickaxe can mine the Copper Ore and Tin Ore needed for bronze. If you still need Leather for early equipment, build a Tannery using 12 Ash Logs, 4 Animal Bone, and 2 Coarse Thread, then process Animal Hide.

  3. Produce Charcoal. Make enough for both the Furnace’s construction cost and its smelting fuel.

  4. Build and load the Furnace. Add the required ore and fuel, then collect the finished Bronze Bars.

  5. Construct your chosen equipment bench. Reserve six bars for the station itself; crafting equipment afterward requires additional materials.

Gathering raw resources is only part of this process. Flax must become thread, and ore must become bars before those ingredients satisfy the bench recipe.

Check missing recipes and placement requirements

If your desired item is unavailable, check its station and ingredient requirements before gathering more of the same resource.

  • Discover processed materials. Making materials such as Leather or Bronze Bars can reveal recipes that gathering their raw ingredients does not.
  • Check skill and progression requirements. Discovering a material does not automatically satisfy every recipe condition.
  • Use the Journal. Review discovered recipes while exploring so you can collect the correct ingredients.
  • Inspect station placement. Mobalytics specifically identifies a roof requirement for the Fletching Bench.

The starter Crafting Table has more flexible placement. According to the RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki’s Crafting Table page, it can function indoors or outdoors and does not require a foundation. Do not assume every specialist station follows those same rules.

FAQ

Should I remove my original Crafting Table?

Keep it available for basic recipes and equipment repairs. It costs only 4 Ash Logs to construct, and its Repair mode remains useful after you add specialist benches.

Where is the Smithing Anvil?

The Smithing Anvil was removed in the June 23, 2026 crafting overhaul. Its functions were distributed among the Armour Bench, Blacksmith’s Bench, Fletching Bench, and Mystic Forge, as documented in the Dragonwilds Wiki’s crafting update history.

Do the Tanner’s Kit or Loom Harness upgrade the Crafting Table?

No. The Tanner’s Kit improves the Tannery, while the Loom Harness improves the Loom. These additions expand processing at their associated stations. The Dragonwilds Wiki also distinguishes the upgraded regular Tannery from the separate Advanced Tannery.
