Tier 6 mage armor at a glance

Mystic Armor is the standard tier 6 mage option in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, while Zamorak Robes provide another power-level-6 robe choice with identical listed defenses. Your choice between these robe items mainly comes down to recipe access and materials. Both carry mage bonuses that shorten stamina regeneration delay, increase magic attack speed, and improve magical critical-hit chance.

The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki identifies Mystic Robes as power level 6, matching Mystic Armor’s placement in U4GM’s armor tier list. The Wiki separately confirms Zamorak Robes at the same power level. Here, tier 6 describes equipment power.

Keep individual items separate from complete sets when planning your upgrade. The recipes below each produce one robe item. Their ingredient totals and defensive values do not represent a complete hood, robes, and legs outfit, and crafting one robe does not activate every mage set bonus.

Mystic and Zamorak robe stats

The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki lists matching power, weight, and defensive values for Mystic Robes and Zamorak Robes. Neither robe has a statistical advantage in these categories.

AttributeMystic RobesZamorak Robes
Equipment power level66
Armor classificationMageMage
Defense against melee3838
Defense against ranged attacks3939
Defense against magic4545
Item weight8.08.0

Magic defense is the highest of the three defensive values, followed by ranged defense and melee defense. These are equipment statistics, not percentages: a magic defense value of 45 should not be read as a stated 45% reduction in incoming magic damage.

For a player deciding which robe to craft first, material availability is therefore more useful than comparing these defensive numbers. Mystic Robes consume more cloth and require Cursed Leather. Zamorak Robes reduce the cloth requirement but introduce Black Metal Bars and a specific recipe unlock.

The matching values also mean that switching between these two robes will not improve the listed defenses. Evaluate the resources needed before treating either item as an upgrade over the other.

Crafting recipes and unlocks

Both robe items are crafted at an Armour Bench. The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki’s individual item pages list the following requirements; each column represents a separate recipe that produces one robe.

IngredientOne Mystic Robes itemOne Zamorak Robes item
Mystic Cloth128
Cursed Leather4None listed
Black Metal BarNone listed6
Infernal Fragment3232
Demonic Oil33

Zamorak Robes require four fewer Mystic Cloth than Mystic Robes. However, the recipes exchange different secondary materials, so that cloth saving alone does not establish which option is cheaper or faster for your character. Check your leather and metal reserves before choosing a crafting target.

According to the RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki’s Zamorak Robes page, the recipe unlock comes from purchasing and using the Whispering Elbow Pad vestige sold by the Evil Emporium. Purchasing the vestige and learning its recipe are separate steps.

To prepare a Zamorak Robes craft:

  • Purchase the Whispering Elbow Pad from the Evil Emporium.
  • Use the vestige to learn the robe recipe.
  • Prepare eight Mystic Cloth and six Black Metal Bars.
  • Gather 32 Infernal Fragments and three Demonic Oil.
  • Bring the completed ingredients to an Armour Bench and craft the robe.

The two robe recipes share the same Infernal Fragment and Demonic Oil requirements. Choosing Zamorak Robes therefore changes your cloth and secondary-material needs without reducing those two costs.

The Wiki’s crafting tables also list 40 Artisan experience for each recipe. That figure appears under the experience heading; it should not be interpreted as a stated Artisan level 40 crafting requirement.

Preparing the materials

Mystic Cloth has its own production chain. The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki’s robe crafting breakdowns show Mystic Fibres being processed into Mystic Thread at a Spinning Wheel, followed by Mystic Thread becoming Mystic Cloth at a Loom.

Cloth preparation stageFor one Mystic Robes craftFor one Zamorak Robes craft
Mystic Fibres needed when starting from fibres14496
Mystic Thread used to make the cloth3624
Finished Mystic Cloth used in the robe128

These rows describe successive stages of the same materials. You do not need to collect every row independently. If you already own the required finished cloth, you can skip producing its thread and fibres.

Starting entirely from fibres, the Zamorak recipe uses 48 fewer Mystic Fibres and 12 fewer Mystic Thread. This comparison concerns only the cloth portion of the craft; its six Black Metal Bars remain an additional requirement.

For those bars, the Zamorak Robes crafting breakdown lists 36 Black Metal Scraps and 18 Coal processed through a Blast Furnace. The Mystic Robes breakdown instead traces its four Cursed Leather through eight Draconic Leather and earlier leather-processing stages at a Tannery.

Material names matter when following farming advice. A Facebook page labeled “Summarized by Meta AI” describes “mystic fabric” as a drop from Zamorak mages. The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki names the crafting ingredient Mystic Cloth and documents a fibre-to-thread-to-cloth chain. Those accounts differ in terminology and processing detail, so check the exact item name before counting a drop toward your finished cloth requirement.

A practical inventory check starts with finished ingredients, then works backward. Count existing cloth, leather or bars, fragments, and oil before calculating how many intermediate materials still need processing.

Set bonuses and armor combinations

Mage armor provides bonuses at one, two, and three equipped pieces. The bonuses on both Wiki robe pages match those listed in BisectHosting’s mage build guide.

Mage pieces equippedBonus at that thresholdWhat the bonus affects
OneStamina regeneration delay reduced by 50%The waiting period before stamina starts recovering
TwoMagic attack speed increased by 10%The speed of magical attacks
ThreeMagical critical-hit chance increased by 15%The chance for magical attacks to critically hit

The one-piece effect reduces regeneration delay. It does not state that stamina replenishes 50% faster once recovery begins. Likewise, the three-piece bonus improves critical-hit chance, rather than directly granting 15% more damage to every spell.

For a casting-focused outfit, reaching three mage pieces adds the critical-hit bonus alongside the earlier mage benefits. A single newly crafted tier 6 robe can improve that equipment slot, but it does not independently provide all three thresholds.

A mixed outfit changes which bonuses you receive. With two mage pieces and one melee piece, you retain the first two mage bonuses and give up the three-piece magical critical-hit bonus. The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki’s Armour page lists a 33% reduction in block stamina cost for wearing one melee piece.

That trade is most relevant when blocking is part of your combat routine. Reduced block cost does not reduce dodge cost, and the melee bonus does not itself improve stamina regeneration. Compare the defensive values of the actual replacement item before assuming that any mixed outfit provides better protection.

FAQ

What is runescape dragonwilds tier 6 mage armor?

Mystic Armor is the standard mage set associated with tier 6. Zamorak Robes are another confirmed power-level-6 robe item. Their listed melee, ranged, and magic defenses match Mystic Robes, while their crafting ingredients and recipe access differ.

Are Zamorak Robes better than Mystic Robes?

Neither has better listed defenses, power level, or weight. Zamorak Robes use eight Mystic Cloth and six Black Metal Bars, while Mystic Robes use 12 Mystic Cloth and four Cursed Leather. Choose according to available materials and whether you have learned the Zamorak recipe.

Do these recipes cover the complete mage outfit?

No. Each recipe produces one robe item. Do not use its material quantities as the cost of a complete outfit or multiply its defenses to estimate set totals. Other equipment pieces have their own recipes and statistics, while set bonuses depend on how many qualifying pieces you equip.

Does tier 6 mean I need Magic level 6 or Artisan level 40?

Tier 6 refers to the equipment’s power level. It should not be treated as a Magic skill requirement. The 40 shown in the Wiki’s robe crafting tables is Artisan experience, so that entry also should not be read as a required skill level.

Where can I repair these robes?

The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Wiki’s Armour page states that armor is repaired at the facility used to craft it. Both robes are made at an Armour Bench, making that the repair facility to use. Check the repair interface for the required materials rather than assuming repairs consume the full crafting recipe.
